I moved back to the Boston area in September and started living in Cambridge for the first time. I’ve explored a bunch but haven’t really taken the camera out for a walk.

The night of November 17th, I was sick and had had a long day at school. I ended up coming home to nap for a bit before heading out to TT the Bear’s to catch Youth Lagoon, a band I had been listening to nonstop for the past month. Their album “The Year of Hibernation” is lovely and perfect for my first fall back in New England, after two splendid years living in California. The album is dreamy and personal and somewhat inward and insular, but it the music somehow retains this warm feel to it that really appeals to me.

Anyways, the show was incredible. And I ended up walking up to the lead singer, Trevor Powers (who’s basically the band), to tell him the show was great. He caught me off guard by introducing himself and engaging me in a short conversation. There was an ease and humility about him I really dug and it really made sense given how personal and honest his music feels to me.

It was near 1:30 or so when I got home, despite being a bit ill, I couldn’t go to bed. And so I went for a walk with my camera instead. It felt really peaceful to stumble around the streets of my neighborhood in the dark by myself.
